My Thesis

The Beauty in the Wounds of Christ

At the core of my thesis is the question, "what does it mean to be beautifully broken?" I ask this question whilst observing the wounds of Christ on his resurrected body and how scholars point to how the evidence of scars on his resurrected body creates a framework for how we can understand the beauty in our own brokenness.

The Beautifully Broken

Art often speaks louder than words, but I think I found my voice through making these figures. Venture down the path that I took in the creation of my art thesis to understand what it means to be beautifully broken. Restoration is a process that often doesn't feel like healing, but when we look back on who we used to be, we can see how far we have come.

Delve into who Cezanne was and how this less than famous watercolor piece of his reveals a whole new side to his creative process that made him into the Impressionist artist that he is known as today.
